Using <a href=\"http:\/\/psalm40.org\/toepfer\/\">Larry Elliott&#8217;s<\/a> artwork (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thingamajigsaw.com\/traditional.html#elliott\">http:\/\/www.thingamajigsaw.com\/traditional.html#elliott<\/a>) she has created an incredible puzzle that requires knowledge of Sherlock Holmes stories to complete.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a picture of the completed puzzle with the silhouette figural pieces removed:<a href=\"http:\/\/valdemar.net\/~erik\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_2960.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-505\" src=\"http:\/\/valdemar.net\/~erik\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_2960-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2960\" width=\"584\" height=\"778\" srcset=\"http:\/\/valdemar.net\/~erik\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_2960-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/valdemar.net\/~erik\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/IMG_2960-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Those figural pieces you will notice are arranged in a spiral&#8230; So you need to link each figural with a story (the complete works of Sherlock Holmes are provided). For example, if you said the Rosary figural\u00a0was associated with the &#8220;The\u00a0Sign of Four&#8221; you would write that figural down next to the story name. The\u00a0Rosary is\u00a0positioned as\u00a0&#8220;O&#8221; starting from &#8220;A&#8221; at the outside of the spiral. Knowing that the Rosary is O will let you decode a secret message which is indexed by letter, e.g. &#8220;O6&#8221; so\u00a0the 6th letter in &#8220;The Sign of Four&#8221; is &#8220;G&#8221; write that down, and continue.<\/p>\n<p>Lots of fun,\u00a0I brought my copy of this puzzle to a board game gathering and it took a group\u00a0several hours to assemble and then another\u00a0several hours to decipher the code.
